Allow the chickpeas to either soaked overnight or cook in a pressure cooker.
Heat a saucepan with oil and add onions, garlic, ginger, cinnamon stick,curry powder and cardamom pods. Stirring constantly until onions are translucent.
Add tomatoes followed by the chicken, stir for 5 minutes. Add some chicken broth or water if necessary to prevent any burning.

Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper.
