Allow the chickpeas to either soaked overnight or cook in a pressure cooker.
Heat a saucepan with oil and add onions, garlic, ginger, cinnamon stick,curry powder and cardamom pods. Stirring constantly until onions are translucent.
Add tomatoes followed by the chicken, stir for 5 minutes. Add some chicken broth or water if necessary to prevent any burning.
Add chickpeas, potatoes and chicken broth or water. Bring to a boil and allow it to simmer until thicken.
Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper.
Remove some of the inside of the sourdough bread. Once the the bunny chow is completed pour it into the sourdough bread.
