Cut the bacon into small pieces and cook over medium heat in a heavy saucepan until the bacon is fully rendered.
Add the onions and saute with bacon until transparent.
Add green beans and pepper, stir making sure the bacon drippings are getting mixed in well.
Add water and reduce heat to low.
Cover and continue cooking the green beans for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve.
