While many may be familiar with the terms Vegan, Vegetarian and Pescatarian, more and more diners are turning to a “flexitarian” diet.
The word “flexitarian” may sound fancy, but it is just a short way to describe having a more flexible diet that is mostly meat free, but incorporates meat or meat products from time to time. If you read that and said “what’s the point?”, that would be understandable. But, many flexitarians want to embrace a mostly meat free lifestyle without being labeled as a vegetarian (aka being judged if they choose to nibble on a chicken wing or eat a conch fritter.)
At the Showman Restaurant, there are a wide range of options for everyone, including vegans, vegetarians who eat cheese and eggs, pescatarians, meat lovers, and those who want a little of this and a little of that.
Here is an example of how a flexitarian could enjoy the Showman Restaurant menu, every day of the week, if they chose to.
Monday’s are often referred to as Meatless Monday. For a hearty and delicious start to the week, try the Spiced Cauliflower Rice Bowl. This vegetarian dish includes spice roasted cauliflower, coconut scented rice, golden raisins, toasted walnuts, pickled tomato, and avocado fries.
Taco Tuesday gets all the love, but a flexitarian can enjoy a bit of Mexican flavors with a Vegan Wrap or Vegetarian Nachos topped with adobe vegetables, shredded cheese, avocado, scallions, sour cream, and cilantro.
On Wednesday, if they want to indulge in a bit of seafood, they can enjoy the juicy, slightly spicy, Mango Chipotle Mahi Burger served with crispy french fries.
On Thursdays if they are feeling like a bit of comfort, they can enjoy a meatless Vegan Eggplant Casserole complete with braised eggplant, tomato ragu, and vegan cheese sauce.
Friday’s are all about letting loose and HAPPY HOUR. Alcohol is all vegetarian, so an ice cold Mango Mojito would pair perfectly with an order of Caprese Lollipops w/ Pesto Oil and Fish Cakes w/Lemon Dill Aioli.
Saturday is meant to be relaxing, comfortable and is a perfect time to hang out with friends. It is also a great excuse to order a round of appetizers for the table to share. Buffalo Cauliflower Bites, Conch Fritters, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Wings, Roasted Carrot Hummus, Spinach Dip and a Lamb Flatbread is a perfect mix for a group, no matter what their dietary choices are.
