One year ago today, on May 31 at 11am, the Showman Restaurant officially opened its doors. It was months in the making. The menu was carefully crafted by the Showman culinary team. The bar menu was infused with the vision of the bar chefs. The walls were adorned with artwork by Allan Wallace and Angelika Wallace-Whitfield. And, the interior and exterior were designed by an all-Bahamian team of talented men and women who have become The Family of Showman, along the way.
Just one year ago, Owen and Jimira were the very first customers to taste the Showman menu. They were the very first to experience the Lebanese falafels with West African jollof rice. And, they were the very first people to celebrate with the Showman team on their opening day.
When Chef Romero Dorsette first developed the concept for the Showman eBistro Restaurant, he dreamt of elevating the look, feel, and flavors of takeout meals. “I want to change how takeout is perceived. I want to be able to offer customers fresh ingredients as well as robust, complex and unique flavors in a comfortable environment – AND, at an affordable price point” he noted.
However, as planning progressed, so did the vision. And, Chef Romero and his team expanded from a small takeout eatery, to an open-air restaurant, complete with a diverse and flavor packed menu, and bar. The attention to quality at an affordable price point remained, but there was a greater focus on crafting an unforgettable and comprehensive dining experience.
Since that day, on May 31 2021, the Showman Restaurant has celebrated birthdays, graduations, hosted beauty queens, provided an outlet for small business owners to reach new audiences and been the backdrop for cooking demos, mukbang sessions, the Showman Chef Series and creative brainstorms that have yielded a number of new and innovative projects.
Stay tuned for even more exciting things coming your way during year 2 of The Restaurant’s journey.
