The Showman eBistro Restaurant opened on May 31 at 11am. And, their very first customers, Owen and Jimira, ordered the Lebanese falafels with West African jollof rice after being surprised with a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne to celebrate the official unveiling of Showman’s newest project.
When Chef Romero Dorsette first developed the concept for the Showman eBistro Restaurant, he dreamt of elevating the look, feel, and flavors of takeout meals. “I want to change how takeout is perceived. I want to be able to offer customers fresh ingredients as well as robust, complex and unique flavors in a comfortable environment – AND, at an affordable price point” he noted.
However, as planning progressed, so did the vision. And, Chef Romero and his team expanded from a small takeout eatery, to an open-air restaurant, complete with a diverse and flavor packed menu, bar, and complimentary valet parking. The attention to quality at an affordable price point remained, but there was a greater focus on crafting an unforgettable and comprehensive dining experience.
As noted in the “Future of Showman” series, Chef Romero is always open to recruiting young, bright culinary minds. And, over the years, he has crafted a team of Bahamian men and women who are no strangers to creating memories instead of just delicious dishes. Behind the scenes of Showman are expertly trained chefs, planners and butlers who are equally skilled at crafting private, luxurious feasts, to the weekly Showman eBistro boxes.
Chef Romero added, “Much like the Showman eBistro boxes, our restaurant came about from a simple idea. The meal kits started because we wanted to create an affordable weekly meal kit to help those who were looking for a cost effective means to feed their families. And, from there, it expanded to an international culinary journey. For the restaurant, we started with digital mockups of the space, and our culinary team started looking at crafting menu ideas. Then, we started having more brainstorm sessions, and wanted to incorporate local artists and vendors and the vision grew.”
Thanks to Chef Romero’s openness to new, fresh ideas, the Showman eBistro Restaurant has a menu that caters to vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, and foodetarians, alike (the complete menu can be found here.) And, the decor incorporates whimsy, style, and the signature Showman touches.
The Showman eBistro Restaurant is located on Mackey Street. Customers wishing to enjoy the menu via takeout, can do so by ordering online.
