January is synonymous with self improvement, a fresh start, a positive outlook on the future, and creating small tweaks that can enhance your best qualities. That said, self improvement doesn’t have to be about deprivation or making sweeping changes.
In our new series – “The Showman Life” – we’ll share a few simple tips that can help you reach your personal goals, whatever they may be.
First up – Supporting Small Businesses.
Over the years, the Showman brand has adapted, evolved, and grown to offer a wide range of services, but that growth took time, sacrifice, dedication, and the support of friends, family, mentors, customers, and even constructive feedback from supporters and critics alike.
In addition to being a customer, here are a few ways that you can help a local small business thrive….for free.
1. Like, comment on and share their social media content: This can be a great way to raise awareness about what they have to offer.
2. Share your personal experience or review: First hand experiences and real reviews build the credibility of a company. If you like a product or service, feel free to tell the world.
3. Give them a chance to make things right: Much like a positive review, a negative one can be powerful. If a newer small business makes a mistake, consider letting them know directly opposed to taking your grievance to social media, immediately. There can be a steep learning curve when starting a business, and while not mandatory, allowing a business owner to right a wrong can allow them to grow, evolve, and adapt for the better.
4. Encourage them: Sometimes, a kind word can go a long way. Even if you are not in a position to financially support a small business, letting a friend or family member know that you believe in them and their vision can be a powerful boost.
5. Tell others about their business: Sometimes, opportunities arise where you can connect those in need of a service with those who can provide it. If you trust and believe in a company, then feel free to tell others about them, make introductions and give recommendations.
6. Show Up: Simply showing up to an event, popup, launch etc can let a small business owner know that you believe in them and possibly attract others to check it out.
7. Remain a positive force in their lives: There is a difference between being honest or providing constructive feedback and spreading negativity. If your words only convey doubt or aim to bring someone down, consider keeping them to yourself.
